Question Hi alp levels

hi all,
Im back i was wondering why the doc was talking about my blood work being off it wasnt my cbc (except platelets mine has never been up higher then 125,000)but it was the alp of 183, i found that out today i go next week agin and he said he will do a ultrasound on liver.I hurt so bad around the rib cage on right side gall bladder is gone. this makes the 3rd time in a row that the alp is up i am a sickly person anyhow , whats sad about 2 years ago when it started to hurt the old doc i had said it was probably phantom pains from having gall bladder removed. thank god for my doc now he watches my blood very closely.what would they do during an ultrasound of liver lol am nervous thinking about it. be good all

Re: Hi alp levels

wow...my GB is gone and I thought I was crazy. I've been on here for months looking and looking and you are the first person to say they have pain where the GB use to be. My surgeon said it might be a nerve(phantom pain). My liver levels were up before I had the GB out and now they are higher. Had a CT scan of liver and belly area. Not showing any problems. Sent me to GI doc and he took more blood tests haven't heard about them yet. CT scan was simple. Except I had and alergic reaction and couldn't breathe well while they were puttin gin the contrast dye thru IV but it went away quickly. not really a big deal it took about 15 minutes or less. Good Luck!

Re: Hi alp levels

Try not to stress too much over things Sassylassy, you're doing the right things at the moment and you'll get back a prognosis soon enough.

I have also had my gall bladder out and have had pains in the same area. Thing you have to remember is that your gall bladder is in the same place as your liver. Whether it's phantom pains or not is questionable, I'd be more likely to consider the possibility of stones in your bile ducts or perhaps an inflamation of the liver, both of which will cause similar symptoms.

The Abdo CT will allow the doctors to detect inflamation of the liver, but if they want to look for obstructions in your billary tree, they'll need to order a CT cholangeogram instead (which is similar to a normal abdo CT, just a little longer and more focused on the one region).

Try to relax though if you can. You are going through a lot of stuff I went through over the last 4 months and I know it's scary as hell, but until you have some results there's not much you can do but wait. If the stress and worry is getting on top of you, make sure you mention it to your doctor and get something for it.

When your doctor can tell you what's going wrong, you'll feel better right away anyhow - that's how it was for me.

Keep us in the loop and get plenty of rest!

Cheers
