I have never wrote into a forum before about myself and what has been going on with my liver for the last 4 years. My ALT and AST are always elevated. I had a liver bio in 2003 which showed I had inactive hepatittis and a fatty liver.
At that time I was not over weight but had the fatty liver. I have the right side pain quite abit and have been put on Ultraset for the pain. I went to another doc who told me when he looked at my report for from my Biop I had NASH. I have lost my insurance due to husband going on Disablity for COPD so I can't afford to see a specialist and I can't get personal insurance because know i have a liver disease. When i was told I had inactive hepatittis the nurse was very concerned, but when i went to see the doc he acted like OH WELL its nothing. I have stopped smoking so as everyone knows you put on weight, plus going through menopause I get the look that I am obeste (sp). SO what or where should I go know. Just lost and in pain!

Ok. First you need to research. NASH has a low mortality rate. Which is good.
Stay away from fatty food. You will need to change your diet.
Of course, no alcohol. Not even that one glass of champagne at New Years.
Basically, for now the ball is in your court. Many people live with fatty liver for the rest of their lives. Only a small percentage of people progress to cirrhosis.
There's a good support group for cirrhosis in Yahoo Groups. Livercirrhosissupport
I'm not trying to advocate for this group but you can find better answers there.
