| Re: Liver Problem?
The symptoms you describe could be attributed to several different things, so it's not surprising you have been referred to a gastro specialist first.
The Flu like symptoms could be a recurring infection, something gastro, glandular fever, liver - anything really. Very hard to pinpoint what that might mean.
The liver area pain is definitely more specialised. However, you have both your gall bladder and your liver in that same area, you could have stones or sludge blocking your gall bladder, a blockage in your billary tree or an inflamed liver - all of which will cause that pain.
The bright yellow diorrhea indicated low birribulin (sp?) levels and gastro issues. The colour can definitely be related to liver, but the water stools not so -that's usually gastro.
Given those indicators, it could be any number of different things going on in there. You could have a nasty tummy bug giving you grief (ie H-Pylori) which they give you a strong course of anti biotics for, or it could be hepatitus (A, D or E strains are gotten virally) or it could be something else. You could have something going on with the Gall Bladder (ie gall bladder disease or stones) or you could have a liver issue (ie fatty liver) - all of which could cause your symptoms either unto themselves, or a combination there of.
Thing is, it's very difficult to say that it's something or another without some further testing. they need to look at your bloodwork and perhaps get you to have an ultrasound or MRI/CT to see what's going on in there. If you're seeing a gastro specialist, they might have to consider an Endoscopy to have a look at your tummy or any number of other tests. The best thing you can do at this stage is try and RELAX and ride the wave. Let them run the tests they need and let them form their own conclusions as to what's going on.
I know how you feel - I've had both gall bladder and liver disease and waiting through the testing proceedure was terrifying (as you always think the worst) - but at the end of the day I was okay and they were able to find out what's going wrong. Places like this can give you some ideas and a little support morally, but it's the doctors who will give you that definitive diagnosis and that's the first step into recovery.
Read through the forums and see what other people are going through. Whilst your mind can run away with these kinds of things, seeing other people report similar experiences as yourself can also give you some peace of mind and remind you that what you have might not be anything too major.
Wait and see how you go. Best wishes!
