Hi I'm hoping some of you may be able to shed a little light on a worry I have.
I have been in hospital twice in the last 5 weeks firstly with gallstone pancretitis and then mild acute pancretitis, My consultant is wanting to remove the gallbaldder once the pancretitis has settled enough. However My worry is that on my discharge letter as well as the diagnosis of the above it also states 'ultra sound- fatty liver, focal lesion in liver (prob hepatoma)' Having lost my Dad to kidney cancer a few years ago am I right in thinking that hepatoma is liver cancer?
My appointment to see my consultant at the hospital is not for another 2weeks so I am thinking that I will try to see my own DR to see if she can shed any light on this, as when I saw my consultant whilst in hospital nothing about this was mentioned.
I'd be gratefull to hear what you think,
Many Thanks Jo
Re: Focal Lesion
Well, did it actually say probable hepatoma (could it have said hematoma) or that is your guess because because it is a focal lesion? I would think if they were super concerned they would get you in before 2wks. I don't know, maybe they don't have much staff. I can't believe no one would say anything to you prior to leaving the hospital. I would be calling them and asking just to be told what it is over the phone. That is just trerrible that they send you off like that. Good luck and please post what they say.
