The liver is your body's detox centre and thus, when you drink alcohol, your liver has to work extra hard at getting rid of this toxin from your body.
There are no surefire symptoms that you are doing damage to your liver while drinking; not having a hangover does not mean that your liver is A-OK with your drinking. Chronic drinking will cause a slow degenerative process in your liver and the onset of symptoms would be very subtle at first; it would take a long time to actually see the damage that is being done in an individual that drinks to excess frequently.
Your enzyme values can fluctuate from day to day; taking aspirin, for example, can raise your liver enzymes as this drug is hard on the liver.
Be good to your liver. It does a lot for you.
