Hello. I am 21 years old.

Recently I notice I hv pain right under my ribcage everytime I breath In , Sleeping side on the right and everytime I yawn. I went to the hosptial but they ve only checked Xray for me. I wonder what is happening and is it about my liver? I don't drink but I do smoke ( quitting atm ) I am eatting really healthy now, but can this be heal? Thank you !!!

And also I want to ask about the Milk Thristle..
Can I buy it outside normally? Or do I have to get it with doctor's note?

I think it would be very unusual to have a smoking related problem at your age. But it is of course good to quite while your ahead. You possibly could have a strained muscle in that area.

Smoking in itself is unlikely to cause liver probs. And milk thistle is available w/out a prescription. Check Walmart.

Thank you for the infomation.. I am not sure if it is muscle pain.. but I am realli having those pain everytime i take a deep breath .. and yawn and when i laught..
this is so weird!

Check out costochondritis. It's an inflammation of the cartilage of your rib cage.

About that "costochondritis" .. Does it only apply on female?
Or both male and female?
But I still think it is my liver's problem.. Maybe I am having a fatty liver?~
I am having less pain lately.. I mean days after days.. but then I still get the pain like once or twice a day.. I am going to the doctor at the 31.. I will see what he is going to say.. !!!

Costochondritis can happen to both male and female. When the cartiladge is inflammed it can hurt to breathe.

It's good you're going to see the doctor, but quite honestly, it doesn't sound like a liver problem to me. Be sure to let us know how you make out.

so today on the 31.. I went to the doctor.. he asked me to take a few test..
Ultra sound.
Blood Test
and X ray..
I hv to wait for ultra sound cuz there is a long line up.. I hope things will turn out good....
I will report wut happen when I get the result

I've been having very similar pain as you all have described:

Pain under right rib cage
Radiates to back
Air, burping, gas
Area is tender to touch
Pressure in abdominal area
Swelling and bloating

I just started eating Activia light yogurt and it has started helping. The pain is getting much better within just a few days. I think it's related to digestive issues. I notice the pain gets much worse when I eat fatty foods and drink alcohol or just eat an unhealthy diet. This yogurt is supposed to help regulate the digestive system. In my situation, I'm beginning to think the digestive system becomes off balance and inflamed somehow. I'm going to continue eating the Activia yogurt and I'll post if the pain continues to get better.

Hi!

I have read 44 pages of this long string of sufferers prior to finally going to the dr. I too had pain in the right side rib cage prior to and after having my gallbladder removed. I finally went for a physical in December and the dr believed that the muscles in my back were the cause for my pain. He prescribed physical therapy for a month, gave me some muscle relaxers for bedtime, and anti-inflamatories. Well, I did what I was suppose to do and there was still no relief. Went back to the nice Dr, and he thought that a chiropractor might be the solution. It took me 4 visits for the pain to be gone. Now, every day I have been pain free. I'm so grateful. I had never been to a chiropractor and was very skeptical. I highly recommend, to those out there that may have muscular related malaise, to try this instead of the multitude of tests that everyone seems to have had. It's worth a try.

Hi..I have just joined and because of the excellent questions and answers especially on this issue..right side back rib pain..pressure..bloating..heart flutters I thought to join the site and share with all. I have had gallbladder removed 20 or so yrs ago. Ihave had bowel problems soon after..irritable bowel..h pylori bacteria found 6 yrs ago..3 colonoscopies..upper endoscopy twice...and a whole host of balance tests (because of dizziness..faint feeling the last yr or so..cat scan of internal organs the last 6 mos and yr ago or so..all normal..I have had 3 polyps removed 1 yr ago..2 were tubal adenomous..not cancer though. Had a recent colonoscopy this month for follow up..found 2 very small polyps..but have a follow up in two weeks for that.must all be normal as they would have me back sooner.
I have had problems with my sinuses..old news..and specialist gave me a spray and saline spray..for the most part...they have kept my sinuses settled..not normal feeling..but never the less can function better.
I have feelings since a yr ago Dec of pressure in back..lower to middle rib cage..and sometimes a full feeling in my stomach..like air..or fluid feeling..sometimes it makes my heart go into flutters..have had cardiologist do stress test..ultrasound of my heart. normal. He did a 14 day halter monitor...came back lots of little flutters..but nothing to worry about...No problem..but the flutters that bothered me were NOT little flutters as they lasted hrs...and always had the feeling of fluid or something inside my chest was the trigger...not saying it is fluid..or excess air ..or whatever..but it sure seemed like it.
Has the constant visits to Dr's taken away some of my dignity..yes..that is how I feel anyway. There are little things wrong..but so far nothing significant..which I am very greatful for those results..but I feel very strongly..that there is something wrong..and I am flying under the radar so to speak..and is not found.
I have gone on zone diet..to lose weight..I am at least 15 lbs over weight..so I can do my part to get that part of my health under control..as well as I walk a few km a week..and walk up my 97 steps on a good day..even though it is not a speedy walk.
So the chief complaint is ..constant pressure in my back now...some days less some days more..slight pain..all this especially hightens after I eat...and extreme bloating..burping..fluid or air feeling in my stomach..and dizziness when this is at it's worse..and fingers turn white..and finger nails turn different colours of blue..both hands..right the worst. The Dr thinks I might have Raynauds'..but that is a test we have not done yet..to be sure..and if it is..what is causing it..hmm..could be stress they tell me..lol..never know..so..I am to go for a diebetes test this week as my fasting test was 6.5 ..normal range they said being 6. the day of my colonoscopy it was 6...so we shall see..my cholesterol is 6.8..so yeah..got a liver thing going on..had a fattey liver over a yr ago..aparently is normal now..
I had a visit to emmergency dept last yr..and had no fever..no major white blood cells..nor high blood pressure..but I had blood in my urine..on a few occasions witht he tests done at hospital and Dr's office..lately is normal..I have a kidney stone in my left kidney..old news..as I had a few their the last 25 yrs or so...but I never had pain in my left side..it is on the right..so there you go..lots of past history. I have had graves diseas about 23 yrs ago..was bad..but ny thyroid tests are all normal..not on any meds for it now..since 20 or so yrs. I thank you all for listening..and I know it is a lot of info but thought i would answer a string and give my personal info at same time..if any answers to what I am going thru greatly appreciated...or questions..thanks one and all. brenda57

Hi..it is me again..just joined..I have had been diagnosed with chostrochondritis..(sp) and it came on my left rib in front..and my middle of my chest..where sternum was..could hardly breath it was so painful and restrictive...anyway..they said that is what it was..so they told me warm milk..and aspirin..that was over 25 yrs ago..had a few episodes especially if I lifted heavy grocery bags...so I knew what that was..and was a relief to know that is what it was..and yes..very scary..very if having for the first time..but knowing what it is..makes it so much easier to deal with..thanks for listening...glad to give some imput..brenda57

I was just diagnosed with costochondritis.....It is awful.....It feels like you would expect a heartattack to feel....It doesn't feel 'muscular' at all....
