| Worried about my liver
Hey everyone.
I have been in hospital 3 times this year. I have gastro-intestinal problems and had colitis and other issues. My blood tests keep saying I have elevated liver enzymes. The last test (from last week in hospital) came back normal for most things but for my ALT was elevated, I think it was 72.
My GP wants me to have an ultrasound of my liver and suspects that I have a fatty liver but in hospital I had 2 CT scans, one with contrast, and they concentrated on my liver as part of the testing as they originally thought I had an infected gallbladder.
I am not sure what to think about all of this. Are CT scans effective at diagnosing liver disease? The raised enzyme levels have been since January, though they are going down. I used to drink but I no longer drink any alcohol.
I'm not sure if I should get the ultrasound done with the GP or just wait until I see my gastro and discuss this with him.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Take care,
Chris.
