Hi again-Thanks Beth and Juliet for your kind replies-(Beth I will definitely check back on the liver cell adenoma thread and post more on that thread in the future!)Well, my gastro (I trust him completely and love his bedside manner) does not SEEM to think my lesion appears serious at all. My lesion is too tiny to really characterize at this point, and all he wants me to do right now is to wait and recheck it in 3-6 months(I opted for 3 months)with a CT or an MRI with contrast, to see if this has grown or remained stable. I want to wait to have a CT scan unless it's absolutely necessary, and he said sometimes all three types of tests (us,CT,MRI)are needed to diagnose a lesion. I've had a lot of radiation over the last year and a half, and I don't want anymore right now unless he says I absolutely need the CT. So I will start with the MRI with contrast, and see what that shows. Luckily, I have great insurance that will cover as many MRI's as I need. He still thinks it's probably a cyst, or at the very least, something else benign. Obviously, an adenoma can't be ruled out, but he said it's more likely a cyst,FNH, or a hemangioma. He said this could certainly still be a cyst without any fluid in it. I asked him why the two previous reports were so different in their opinions. He said sometimes radiologists see things differently depending on the kind of test that is done, and that while modern technology is a wonderful thing, sometimes these tests find harmless internal lesions that could get a person running around in circles looking for answers and diagnoses with unnecessary stress. He said my lesion could very well have been present when I had my gallbladder us in 2004,during my pregnancy, and that it was possibly missed because of the size. He said a lot of these liver lesions are caused by estrogen(for women) and it has nothing to do with lifestyle. He does want me to have the liver tumor marker blood test this month(forget the test name) just to have a baseline number for if we need to repeat the test in three months. He said not to stress over those numbers either-that markers for tumors could still come up high for healthy people for no reason. So I'll have the blood test next week, and then just basically wait until July (without stressing-yeah right!) for my MRI, and pray this lesion stays stable and they could see what it is. To all that responded to my posts-Thank you so much!! Sorry if I seem to be a worrywart(I am!!)and considering the more serious adenoma tumors and surgeries a lot of you ladies have had or are about to have, my problem seems pretty trivial right now. I'll continue to check back on this board for continued support and to see how everyone else is doing.
