Finally had MRI this morning-how long for results?

After the ultrasound two weeks ago found a "spot" on my liver, I finally had the MRI with/without contrast to diagnose what said "spot" is. I'm just praying it's just a hemanigoma or adenoma. How long do MRI results typically take? My doctor says not to worrry-that I'm too young for liver cancer. But I've read about lots of people who are under 40 who have died of liver cancer. I've been a wreck for the past two weeks, and will be for the next few days, until I get a diagnosis. Any advice for coping? Thank you.

Re: Finally had MRI this morning-how long for results?

i got my very first MRI in 01 and it used to be a very slow process, but now,in this day and age and after my 16th MRI being done last year, the turn around time for your doc is about two to three days actually. it moves much more quickly with the fax machines now than it used to be. but alot depends upon your referring doc too and how good he or she is about getting results to patients. my primary, when he orders the MRI,i normally get a phone call from him within about four days giving me results over the phone. but thats MY doc.

you can always obtain your very own copy of your results from the place that did the MRI for you. just stop in and sign a release and it should be made for you right then and there. but if you want to wait for some reason(alot of people want to get that info right from their doc too)thats fine too. but you can obtain a copy if you want one either from the place or your doc when you see him or her. i would wait like three days tops then simply call your referring docs office and ask if he can call you later with the results. i have done that too. just give it a few days first. he might even call you before then too depending upon how he is or the actual results. it depends upon alot of things. but in most situations, after at least that three days time, they DO have your results in hand. good luck with the results. you are right, this could just be a hemangioma, they are just very common to find in livers. let me know what you find out,K?marcia
