Discomfort when lying on back on right side just above waistline

When lying on back i have discomfort - stretching feeling - on the right side just above my waist-line. I have had key-hole surgery for removal of gall bladder about 5 years ago. My liver function and liver scan was normal but i still worry whether i could have something wrong with my liver. I have occasions when i drink above the recommended limits.

Why don't you stop drinking for a month or two and see if the pain goes away?

Re: Discomfort when lying on back on right side just above waistline

Pamela62, I also have this problem on occasion, and I don't drink!
My GP told me that it was scar tissue from the laproscopic surgery, that sometimes when the healing process begins, tissue will adhere to certain areas. I don't know if it's true, but I haven't had an x-ray or ultrasound to find out.

Re: Discomfort when lying on back on right side just above waistline

I don't drink either and I had my gall bladder removed 1 yr.ago. I have a dull pain or discomfort all around where the hole is where the dr.took out the gall bladder. I am worried about this, but I too think it might be scar tissue. I was put on Zocor two weeks ago and the pain area has expanded. Has anyone heard that Zocor should not be taken by a person who has no gall bladder? I read that Zocor is expelled through the gall bladder. I stopped taking Zocor two nights ago. I felt it was causing the pain all around the liver area.
