| Re: liver function
not likely given what you described as being wrong with your liver. do they actually know what caused the liver damage in someone so young(its just pretty dramatic to have that all at age 19)? that really IS unusual. have your kidneys ever been checked for any types of abnormalities such as cystic development? does anyone in your family have any kidney problems at all or liver? in some cases, just having liver problems can and will affect the pancreas too, this may be why the diabetes actually presented itself in the first place as a secondary conditon due to the liver issues. this is exactly what happened to my youngest son at only age 12(only he developed pancreatitis not diabetes). he was diagnosed with a condition called "congenital hepatic fibrosis". this really does sound alot like what you have going on. do they have that reason or actual Dx in what your liver damage was casued by yet? what types of specialists have you been seeing so far? what made you seek out the medical help when the liver was found to be the way it was, pain, or something else? what other testing have you had done since that biopsy was done? at least an ultrasound i hope?any further info you can provide would help me to help you in the very best way. marcia
