| Re: how do i know if i have liver damage
if you have reason to wonder about your liver and any real problems despite having good labs, obtain an ultrasound to really get an actual look at that liver, and to simply check that bloodflow thru the very important portal vein. certain types of actual disease processes that are possible to get with the liver and the kidneys wont always show any real number changes with your labs until the very real damage reaches a certain threshold amount to actually show real changes in numbers. i myself have PKD and very huge changes in how my kidneys and liver really 'look' upon ultrasound, but still great lab numbers with nothing as of my last draw even out of range yet. very crazy let me tell ya. just ask your doc to double check things with an ultrasound. it would show actual damage to your liver. if you do feel that your drinking may be harming your liver, you really do need to think about stopping now. if for some reason you cannot do this alone, there are programs availible to help with that. you just really need to make some decisions here. chronic alcohol comsumption WILL take its toll eventually, trust me. hopefully all is well, but that US would really show it. please keep me posted, good luck, marcia
