Took popular acne miracle drug and now liver is inflamed! - Liver & Pancreas Disorders Message Board

I just got the results from my monthly Accutane blood test and my liver is inflamed! My doctor gave me Milk Thistle and Fish oil to reverse de inflamation. Anyone have experience with those suplements?? Gimme feed back!

Sorry to hear that. Did your doc actually take a feel of your liver or are we just going off of blood tests. Anything further from this since your post? Was there any pain?

Sorry to hear your liver is affected. But PLEASE GET OFF ACCUTANE ASAP. This drug has a plethera of side effects, some of which don't finally show until 4 or more years later. AND IT CAN KILL. I just lost a very dear person to the side effects of this drug. It is a nightmare that should never have been released and its warnings are to be given to extreme cases only but too many docs don't heed that warning.

I think Accutane s a GREAT drug. People who suffer from cystic acne will agree. The reason for your blood test every month is to monitor what is going on inside you. The results of Accutane are far more positve than negative. I was on it and I would do it all again. Keep up the treatment. Its worth it in the end. My .02 worth.

Yes, milk thistle is good for your liver and so is SAMe. What kind of fish oil did your dr give you?
