I've had a bunch of blood work for hepatitis and various odd diseases, but that was all negative. I had an ultrasound which showed maybe some fatty infiltrate into the liver, but my PCP thinks I may need a liver biopsy to rule out other inflammation or problems, etc. I'm going to see the GI doctor tomorrow and I was just kind of wondering if anyone else has had this kind of problem or has undergone a liver biopsy, because I wondered what it was like. HI Pam , for years my liver enzymes were elevated but none of my Drs could find the cause and said I just had high liver enzymes, finally a Dr did a different blood test which indicated primary biliary cirrhosis, after about 3 years I got brave enough to have a liver biopsy (actually was forced into it do to other health problems ) it was confirmed , I have PBC and autoimmune hepatitis. The biopsy itself took only a few seconds , then 5 hours of laying on my side, I experienced pain in my right shoulder and side for about 2 days , It took me almost 10 years to find the cause of my elevated enzymes. Good luck to you . AnitaL
