Re: pain, right side under rib
D.Perez, sonograms (or are ultrasounds different...) usually are used for definitive liver evaluations - if an advanced disorder anyway, but I would still ask for specific liver enzyme blood tests and perhaps have your sonogram looked at by a hepatologist (liver specialist).
Peggy2, fishy urine smell may just be an infection. If not allergic, a minimum of a 2 week regimen of Cipro might help. If not that, and you still think liver (I believe we are our own best doctors) ask for liver enzyme blood tests and if they are elevated, get to a hepatologist. Also, if pain is not a damaged muscle from birthing that flares up intermittenly, and if you do have liver troubles, I think sugar is better than sugar substitutes - even aspartame can cause cancer in a damaged liver. I am not affected by sugar and I have ESLD (end stage liver disease) (though oils other than olive oil do seem to be undigestable...ible...whatever).
SzTaylor and peazer, you might ask for bone density tests to rule out osteoporosis (it can hit weakened ribs and hips first), and then look into liver enzyme tests.
Hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless.
