My doctor just told me to lose weigth SLOWLY, like 1-2 lbs a week. He said if it's any faster, more damage can be done to the liver. I worked with a nutritionist at the hospital, and told me to aim for 45 grams of fat a day (typical person about 60 grams a day). I personally am doing weight watchers, and am being sure to make sure I get adequate protein (I'm a vegetarian so I do that through dairy and fake meat products). My personal trainer told me it's important to make sure you're getting enough protein to help with weight loss. I eat lots of fruit and veggies. The nutritionist said to eat several small meals a day, instead of 2-3 big ones. She said this is easier on the digestive system including the liver and pancreas. It's important not to starve yourself, to make sure you get enough calories. You may want to consider seeing a nutritionist like once just to make sure you're getting enough calories and to help guide you in what you're supposed to eat. I know to join weight watchers online, it's only about 15 bucks a month, I don't think that's so bad if I know it's helping my health. In a nutshell, my doc said lowfat diet, NO crash diets.
