Hey, see reading your message....I know one thing, I have been drinking now straight for about 9 years. Very heavy earlier on, but now a bit better, and got a medical taken about two months back....before my Ecstacy induced Jaundice that is...and I had asked the doc about it and what he said was this....if its affecting you, then the AST going up is the first sign....so take a check and you find your AST up, and knowing you have been having a bit more than usual, you can be sure its affecting you.
For me, before the Jaundice I had normal AST and ALT levels.

Rover, How high were your AST and ALT. I have read that in alcohol induced liver enzymes, the AST is usually twice the ALT.

It could be small amounts depending on your body. If you are a woman it gets to your liver faster than a man. It really does depend. I loved wine every night woth dinner but was told by my GI man that it could be more harmful to woman than a man or to different body types...Lisa

Hi...see...the other day talking to the doc. he also mentioned GGT (Gamma Gt) which was 338 for me...also Alkaline Phosphate was 201. Now I'm not a doc., but after my jaundice I've seen three different ones and the last one I met told me...most importantly....what one must look for apparently is that Gamma Gt....so I dont know. However, my AST was ...230 and ALT was 395. So Now that goes against what u'r saying see...!!!
