Damage of getting hit in the liver area

Well MY brother kicked me in the liver area, I just wanted to know if that could cause something serious? If it caused internal bleeding would I be able to feel it?

Re: Damage of getting hit in the liver area

when you say 'liver area" just exactly where was that kick located? did he hit the ribs or further down or in the middle between the ribs? depending upon your age, the liver in normal healthy people is pretty much under the actual ribcage and pretty well protected from something like what you experienced. when we are younger, it tends to sit with the lower lobe slightly out from under that ribcage somewhat thus easier for younger people to actually suffer liver and spleen injury than the older. the spleen is kind of the same way with age and being better protected. that is on the left side tho. believe me, if there was indeed an injury, at this point, you would be feeling differently than your norm. i know this was posted a couple days ago, but how are you feeling now? any bruising where you got kicked? or a deeper reddish/kind of rust colored color area at that impact site? at this point if you don't have any of those signs, things are probably okay for you.

but if you should be feeling sick at all in any way, just seeing your primary doc wouldn't hurt. just so a medical professional can evaluate and palpate the impacted area to check for possible problems. hopefully you are just fine and you and your brother can continue to torment each other like i know my two boys did back when. sorry i didn't see this post earlier than today. marcia
