| Re: Possible liver damage from Tylenol & Ambien overdose
do you know how much of both meds were taken? depending upon how long these were in her before she got to the hospital would make a difference as far as how much real possible damage there would be to deal with. while they DO have an antidote for tylenol OD(acetylcystine) i really don't know about what affects the ambien could have on mostly the brain? a one time liver injury is 'usually' recoverable depending upon the above? and it can regenerate itself too, but that to would have to take into account other factors too like any possible impact the ambien could have also had on the liver if it actually is metabolized within that liver or kidneys. some meds get extensively or partially metabed in either the kidneys or the liver. but tylenol can also impact the kidneys as well when there is an OD of it in certain people too. have they checked kidney function at all?
unfortunetely alot of how this plays out is very highly individual to the person, what they took and how much real impact was done. it will take some time for this to kind of play out to really know just what is getting better with repeated lab checks along the way. sorry i couldn't be of more help here. i do hope your freind will fully recover. please keep me posted,Marcia
