6cm hemangioma on liver

I've been having chest pain for over a year now. have been to ER several times when it got bad. I have weird EKGs...something to do with bad T wave. I keep telling the docs that it feels like I have a fist-sized rock under my left boob, a little closer to the center of my chest. No one believes me. I've developed high blood pressure in the last couple of months (189/100) and so finally was sent to a regional hospital where a CT with dye was done to take a good look at my heart. Heart doc tells me after CT that my heart and vessels look fine, but he was going to have a radiologist read it, too.

So, heart doc calls a couple days later and tells me that radiologist saw a 6cm (tennis ball sized) mass on my liver and thinks it is a hemangioma. I asked if it was the possible source of my constant feeling of heaviness and dull ache in my chest and he says yes, it could be referred pain from the hemangioma.

I'm waiting for a referral on to a GI doc to have further tests done. I want this thing out! I am tired of having a constant dull pain in my chest. I am always tired and about once or twice a month I wake up with yellow eyes that fade back to white by noon.

I live in the upper midwest.....anyone on here have experience with a hemangioma of this size and symptoms? thanks!

Re: 6cm hemangioma on liver

In June 2009 a 1.9 cm was found on my liver and they said it probably was a hemangioma. My Dr. wanted to watch and see if it grew, so in Oct 2009 had CT and it had not grown. So in May 2010 he did another CT and it had grown to 3.1 cm. I had a biopsy done and it was hepatcellular carcinoma (cancer). I had laproscopic liver resection July 14th at Cleveland Clinic and now I am cancer free.

This was all due to Hep C which has been in remission since 1999. I will have follow up MRI's at the Cleveland Clinic in 6 months to check for any new tumors. If I do have another one I will have to have a transplant.

Hope things are going well for you and hopefully this is not anyway related to my situation.

Re: 6cm hemangioma on liver

Hey! I had several hemangiomas on my liver. One caused referred pain to my shoulder. I eventually had the entire right lobe of my liver removed for the 7cm tumor. It was pressing on my diaphragm. I recommend you see a liver specialist...not a gastroenterologist. ....go see a hepatologist at larger hospital. I went to Dallas for my surgery to Baylor and they were phenomenal...

I recently had a CT scan done and they found 2 masses on my liver that I am being told are Hemangiomas. They are small only 8mm in size. I am in huge amounts of Pain behind my right rib cage. How do they know for sure mine are not cancer? All my Liver blood work have all been normal....all my liver functions. They said that these would not be the source of my pains. I've had my Gallbladder out and just had a colonoscopy/endoscopy and that also came back normal. I go to see a Liver Specialist Monday. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

Sorry. I just looked at my CT scan report...the 2 masses are 1.5x 1.3cm and 1.1x 0.9.
