Fatty Liver Question. I'm new.

I think I have fatty liver or NASH. My liver enzymes were elevated at my last physical. ALT=99 AST=68. This has happened before. My triglycerides are also elevated around 249. Whenever this happens if I change my diet and exercise my trigs. come back down and so do my liver enzymes. This can be done in about 25-30 days. If I watch my diet everything stays down. I had a liver ultra-sound and was told I had "some" fatty liver. I am really worried about NASH. If my liver enzymes are going up does it mean I have liver inflamation and a more advanced form of fatty liver or is it a good sign I can bring my blood work back down quickly with just diet and exercise? All other blood work is good. I do have high blood pressure that is under control with meds. Should I see a liver specialist for further evaluation?

Re: Fatty Liver Question. I'm new.

If I understand the process correctly NASH is the next stage of fatty liver disease prior to cirrhosis and is still reversible with dietary control. People worry about NASH because it can progress without any symptoms so the fact that you know you have a fatty liver is fortunate because you can do something about it before it becomes irreversible. It's probably not necessary to see a specialist at this stage. Just make sure that you change your diet and stick to the new regime. Probably a good idea to have a repeat ultrasound next year to make sure that all is going well.

Re: Fatty Liver Question. I'm new.

I keep track of mine by getting blood test and then my doctor advises me every 6 months. I did see a specialist last Friday because my liver swells and causes pain.

Re: Fatty Liver Question. I'm new.

what is your weight and height and age?
I am going through the same thing, read my post below.

I am a 24 year old male. I am 5 11 and 196lbs (at the time of blood tests in Sept.).
In September I went to the Dr to get some blood drawn for a physical and all of my results were in normal range with the exception of my ALT liver funtion, which was elevated to 143. I then was referred to a Gastro, who had me do an ultrasound of my liver and everything was normal with the exception of mild fat infiltration. Then had a CT scan that was normal but it showed same with fat infiltration. I have been tested for Hep which was negative, and all other blood tests are normal. (all LFT and literally 50 more or so other tests for Wilsons etc normal). I have totally changed up my lifestyle eating better, exercising more, I weigh 180 now (lost 16lbs!). I am due for a liver biopsy in two weeks. Could this be something like lymphoma or liver cancer, even though the scans were clean? And would something like lymphoma turn up in a biopsy of my liver even though there is no specific part of my liver to biopsy? Below are my ALT levels over the course of Sept-Nov.
