Re: does fatty liver go away

It usually needs a change of diet and more exercise.

Re: does fatty liver go away

I was told fatty liver will swell and cause pain (not the liver) but the swelling will cause the pain. I saw a liver specialist and he told it can cause discomfort. So I am wondering anybody out there experience other symptoms???

Re: does fatty liver go away

So-called fatty liver is an early stage of 'silent' liver disease that has no symptoms and is usually only discovered because your doctor suspects it in association with obesity. It shows up on an ultrasound scan. It can usually be reversed by diet and exercise.
If it is neglected, it can progress to a stage where swelling occurs and later to cirrhosis when it is likely to be painful and irreversible. It is though, sometimes still possible to prevent it progressing by diet and medication.
If you are diagnosed with fatty liver, you should consider yourself lucky that it has been discovered early enough for you to do something about it.
