I thought I was having gall bladder trouble so I go to the dr. and tell him. They pull 5 viles of blood and send me for an ultrasound. The ultrasound says my gall bladder is fine, but I have a mass in or on my liver. I am scared to death now. I am allergic to iodine so cant do a ct scan. We are waiting for insurance to let me have an MRI. As I sit and wait I am scared and crying over this. I will be 46 this sat. mother of an 18 and 15 yr old daughters and my family mother and fathers sides as all died of cancer. My mom pasted away in 2001 at 53 from gall bladder cancer. I am trying to deal with this but was looking for some insite on what else it could be other than CANCER. thanks for listening......
well, my blood work came back all is normal, except my iron is low, The pain in my right side is getting a little stouter. still waiting for insurance to approve the mri, so I can find out what the mass is. I cant stand this waiting game. Does anyone else have any ideas what is causing this pain???
Hi, I know the waiting game is stressful and sometimes they seem to take forever! Your not alone but you will get there, think positive.
I too went for an ultrasound and they found a lump. Two MRIs later and a endoscopy and colonosopy and many blood tests (months and months) they tell me its not cancer and just something that grows, focal nodular hyperplasia. I also have low iron and the pains.
Hope this puts your mind at ease, not every lump is cancer. Stay positive.

hi. I understand u would be freaking as I did also when I was told I had a tumor on my liver. As soon as I heard that I automatically thought cancer even though the dr was saying it was likely to be 1of 3 rumors (all benign ones- I didn't hear that though-I just thought I was going to be dead in a year). But after doing plenty of research I felt better- I did have an MRI a week after my ultrasound and advised most like Focal Nodule Hyperplasia which is the 2nd most common benign tumor in your liver or an Hepatic Adenoma which is more rare but still benign. The most common tumor is the HamangiomA. So those are probably like to cover what u have, unless of course it is the dreaded C word but try and think positive. It all depends on ur history too from what I have read malignant liver cancer is usually only caused by cirrhosis or if u have cancer somewhere else that has spread. There was a rare type I found out about but it was rare. Hopefully u just have one of these benign options though. Good luck and take care! Hope u can get your MRI soon to help ease your mind.
