Re: Fatty liver disease and FNH

Fatty liver means your liver is storing fat in your liver. Your body, if I understand it right, metabolises it so that it is stored there.

To get rid of fatty liver you need to diet and exercise. Lose weight. Eat smaller meals, low in fat and carbs.

That is what I was told. Do not lose more than one to two pounds per week as the liver does regenerate and if you lose too much too fast you can cause scarring.

I hope that helps.

I'm here looking for fatty liver success stories and how they did it. I want recipes and any direction anyone can give.

My dad and grandfather both died of fatty liver that became cirhosis. I plan a different path for myself!

Hi Kselibray 76

i also have fatty liver and trying to eat healthy but not quite successful.
Your grandfather and father - did they have non alcoholic fatty liver that developed cirrhosis?

I also look for success fatty reverse stories - but never really came across one. this site should be full of such success stories if it is so easy to reverse. a lot of cases, i read - my severe fatty liver is now moderate on last test. or my numbers AST, ALT have come down to normal.

In my own case, my numbers were never raised, but was still diagnosed with fatty liver upon ultra sound.

Re: Fatty liver disease and FNH

Forehand...

I'm eating healthy like CRAZY, and plan to continue to do so.

My father and grandfather (and now my 34 year old son and myself) all had fatty liver.

My father and grandfather graduated to NASH (all of us are NO ALCOHOL kind of folks, no drugs unless necessary, etc.) NASH went to cirrhosis.

My grandfather and father were not diagnosed until it was ... late. Dad was on the transplant list for 8 months and did not get one.

I'm 53, my dad died at 63. My liver fat infiltration is listed as MILD per an ultrasound. I plan to ask for a biopsy due to family history. My ALT and AST are well within normal range.

My son isn't too awfully concerned about his...he's young (34). I'm freaking about mine

I too was diagnosed via ultrasound and not enzyme levels.

Had a very sweet lady I met on another fatty liver discussion board who just went to a fatty liver dietician meeting pass along some good ideas for vitamins and what to avoid, when I get home I'll try to remember to pass it along.

Re: Fatty liver disease and FNH

I would love to hear the tips!

I have fatty liver as well as FNH or Hepatic Adonema. I get an MRI in October which will hopefully tell me which one for sure. Are they sure is is FNH for sure?

As for fatty liver I've had some doctors show concern and others not. I lost 11 pounds as of now and my goal is 15 before my MRI. I am curious to see if my liver enzyme count will go down as I am not even overweight.

Re: Fatty liver disease and FNH

My doctor didn't even tell me I had fatty liver. I happened to read it in MRI report. So now I am trying to get information about it as well. They know for sure I have FNH. I had that for several years. My tumor continues to grow. My liver enzymes have always stayed in the normal range so far. I have some other strange symptoms that they believe is from the fatty liver.

Re: Fatty liver disease and FNH

Hi to all. I was also diagnosed with a fatty enlarged liver. My dilemma started about 3 months ago when I noticed that when I sneeze sometimes I will get a experience a stabbing pain in my mid chest bone. I went to see my family doctor as I had a bit of a cold and mentioned this pain to him. He advised that it could be a bit of a cartridge infection. A few days after that I started developing a burning back and went to see my chiropractor who explained that my back is tight and that I have a trapped nerve in my spine. I started with my 4 sessions of therapy. I also started developing burning ribs on both sides. After about a month I went back to my chiropractor as I started experiencing pressure under my ribs, very similar pressure to what a very pregnant woman would experience. My chiropractor poked around and advised me to have a stomach scan as he felt that my liver might be enlarged. My liver was discovered to be fatty measuring 17cm mid car and my spleen 14.4cm. I took the results to my family doctor who was quite annoyed with me for pursuing this and felt that enlargement of 2cm in each organ is not something serious that I should worry about. However he did take a blood test to eliminate leukemia and lymphoma as well as the blood test to check the liver pancreas and the spleen. All the tests I was told by him came back normal. I was scheduled to go and have my pap smear at his wife practice (who is also my general practitioner) I mentioned to her that I know that there is something wrong and do not believe that my liver and spleen would be enlarged if there was not a problem. She took a blood test to check for my cholesterol and the results came back showing that I have high triglycerides at 250mg. I was advised to cut out fatty food as well as carbs. I have lost 8kg in 3 weeks but have developed other problems. I have to mention that I do suffer from anxiety and depression and IBS and sometimes think that all this is mostly in my head. However besides the pressure which is in my right side from the bottom of my rib to my hip bone I have developed a painful lower back, hip, groin and am experiencing pain in my ovaries. I feel very bloated in my lover stomach and wake up each morning with a loose stool, which is sometimes very dark green.(yuk I know not something I feel very comfortable writing about)

I am going back to my doctor tomorrow as I am petrified that this could be lymphoma even though he said that the test came back negative.

Blessings

Re: Fatty liver disease and FNH

Hi Crystal727,

Yes I do experience right and left side discomfort and a dull pain. I have also developed a painful lower left side pain in my ovarie region. However since my previous posting I booked myself into hospital to be examined by a specialist. He ordered an abdominal scan and xray as well as warious blood tests. They find nothing abnormal on the xrays and the scan only showed an enlarged spleen of 13.4cm (which is smaller the in my previous scan of a month ago at 14.4cm) my liver was reported as normal with no enlargement???! I wake up every morning feeling good with no discomfort. As soon as I am up and about it starts! I have also changed my chiropractor as I still feel that the pressure under the ribs, lower back, hip and groin pain might all caused by muscular, spinal or nerve problem. My neck was out of place and his diagnosis was "switching". I am still battling every day with my symptoms and it seams that there is always something new that pops up. I am going back to the specialist for a check up in 2 weeks time and will report back.

God bless

Re: Fatty liver disease and FNH

I was told that by the time the symptoms show for fatty liver disease it is too late. I have never heard of being able to change the liver through exercise and diet. News to me.

I was diagnosed with NASH/fatty liver and nearly died from it. It kept getting worse and all they could do is give me meds to keep me alive until I could receive a new liver. I received my new liver April 18th 2011. Now my anti-rejection drugs that can run $3200 a month are damaging my kidneys, causing osteopenia, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
