Lipase 811 Amalyse normal, what could it be?

My upper right stomach hurts and aches off and on, severe pain at times. My stomach is swollen continuously.

I had blood work done and my Lipase is 811 but my Amalyse is normal. I am scheduled for a ct scan in a week.

What could this be? I am very anxious.

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Elevated lipase with normal amylase can be caused by an inflamed pancreas or gall bladder. Since your pain is on the right, it is more likely due to gall bladder problems. The CT scan will check all your abdominal organs for signs of trouble, and should give you an answer.

Thank you Ladybud for the quick response. I did want to add I had my gallbladder out in 1974.

Is there a possibility it could be cancer? Of course that is a big worry as well as severe infection which I read about and is very scary.

Thanks again, happy Thursday.
