Could it be cirrhosis?

Hi everyone! I'm new to this board and have some questions. My mom went to the emergency room a couple weeks ago because she has been sick. They did a scan and said her liver is enlarged. Well yesterday she showed me her stomach and it looks as though she is 4 months pregnant! She has ascites and will be getting it drained. My mom has been a heavy white wine drinker for over 30 years and I know the chances of her developing cirrhosis is very high. So i'm wondering if that is what she has now? If she does have cirrhosis....is having ascites mean she is in the beginning or advanced stages of cirrhosis? Any help would be appreciated
