Question cirrhosis

I quit drinking over 6 months ago and feel good now. My family doctor said Monday that I am operating on 1% of my liver and will need a transplant to get better. I see my specialist Jan 7th. How long might it take before I start noticing symptoms? My color is not yellow and I definantly have not lost my appetite. Any thoughts on what to expect?

Re: cirrhosis

On 1%? What kind of tests did they do? Did they do a liver biopsy? How long have you been a drinker?

Re: cirrhosis

They will have to do a liver biopsy to determine what stage you are in. If they havent done that yet, I would go see a liver specialist in your area and have your medical records sent to the new dr. Good Luck!

Re: cirrhosis

Thanks. Unless it was done in the hospital I dont think I have had a biopsy. I will definately ask my specialist on Jan 7.
