I just joined this site because my Doctor just called and informed me that the ultrasound I had yesterday showed a fatty liver. I have been having stomach pain since October. In December I tested positive for H Pylori and took the 2 weeks of meds for that condition. However, I still have stomach pain. It appears from information online that doctors don't believe that fatty liver can cause stomach pain. Well if it isn't the fatty liver, what is it? Gall bladder and everything else looked fine on the ultrasound.
I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't other than to say you are not alone. A couple years ago, I had an ultrasound of my abdomen searching for kidney stones. They found the stones, but also found some issues with my liver. The official write up says I had fenestrations on my liver. Every time they have done liver function tests, they come back high. Plus I have had a pain in my right side, just under my ribs for several years. It is like when you have gall stones, only they too my gall bladder out several years ago, so I know that isn't what iti is. Maybe someone out there will have some insight!

A little followup to this post, I recently went to my neurologist who expressed concern about my liver function tests. I told her what my doctor had told me about the fatty liver and she was more concerned. We have since run a ton more tests. I'll let you know what happens.

Sounding very familiar to me. I had pains, more dull ache mostly, in right side, sore to touch at at top of pelvis at front. All my tests are fine but ultra sound says fatty liver (not got a particularly bad diet or excessive alco intake). My doctor accepted the notion of it causing pain and has referred me to a specialist for more advice. Since the ultra sound i have been cutting down on food intake, esp in the evening, doing the off fast (2 whole days and just skipping some meals) and this has a clear effect on the pain for the better. Also cut down on beer intake which was around 3-5 pints a week, plus occasional bottle of wine spread over a few evenings. Plus, drinking a small amount of lemon juice and olive oil, sometimes mixed, at night on some nights. Again, thou the jury is out as i need to test it out more rigourously, but I think i note a reduction in soreness during the night and in morning. It is bit like what is recommended for liver and kidney cleanse.
Any use? I will post again when i have more news.
