| Re: Lung X-Ray
Hi there.....it's certainly disconcerting when the medical lingo isn't "clear".
I have a few meanings that could be helpful to you.
You have no diagnosis. Hemithorax - one side of the chest (yours is the left side of the chest; the lower area) CHF is congestive heart failure - (yours is negative) effusions mean fluid in the pleural space - (yours is negative) Focal is a limited area;
On an x-ray, structure density shows by colour: very dense such as bone is white, non-density such air is black, other structures such as skin, organs appear as varying shades of grey. (on your x-ray, it appears a limited area has increased density) patchy appearance would be varied densities showing Superimposed shadows would be the different densities of skin/organ/bone/etc. being one on top of the other that is seen on the x-ray. (it's probable that the patchy appearance around the focal density is caused by the different densities of tissue around that area)
You have to have other tests done to determine a diagnosis related to these findings.
Hope this helps.....but I'm only a layperson....I found out the meanings as a challenge as though it were my own x-ray results.
Please let us know what happens.
