Question hardening of the lungs

i was wondering if anyone could help me. im just trying to find out some information and maybe a name on a disease that my grandmother was diagnosed with 15 years ago. she passed away 5 years ago, but i really dont know what it was she had. all i was told was that her lungs were "hardening," and when she finally passed away, she only had 15% of one lung still functioning. has anyone else heard of this?

Re: hardening of the lungs

you might contact your department of vital statistics where your grandmother died and get a copy of her death certificate if she died from that disease it should be listed in the diagnosis on the death certificate .

Re: hardening of the lungs

Well, I'm not an expert, but what you are referring to might be pulmonary
fibrosis. Certain pulmonary diseases sometimes cause the lungs to become
"stiffer", which can cause a person to not be able to take in as deep of a breath as they normally could. Just a thought, don't know if that was what they were referring to when they say hardening of the lungs.

Re: hardening of the lungs

I had a first cousin who died because his lungs had hardened but I never found out the details of it. He was on a list to get new lungs but was never able to get them. The only thing that I remember was talked about that could have been the cause was that his family raised a lot of chickens for years and the tiny bits of feathers could have gotten into his lungs over a long period of time.
