does anyone understand the outcome of pulmonary fibrosis cause by dermatomyositis. all i know is its hard to breath when walking. i would like to understand the outcome good or bad. thanks for any info. mitch

How were you diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis?

while I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis (NSIP) before DM...the DM is my 'main disease'...and my experience and understanding is that when this is the case the lung disease is typically kept at bay because the meds that is rx'd for the DM usually stops the fibrosis from spreading. Im am taking three shots of 25mg. Enbrel a week, 150mg of Imuran and then all the vitamins etc. that we should all take. I hope this helps and answers your question.

Hi...sorry I havent been reading the posts lately.
I was diagnosed with Pulm. Fibrosis by having a lung biopsy.
To answer the last post ...the 'outcome' of course varies...with my Pulm. Fibrosis being secondary to the DM..it is "controlled" by the meds I take for the various connective tissue disease I have. The worst 'outcome' is a transplant of course...thankfully mine is secondary. Hope this answers your ?'s.
