Coughing up blood in the morning

For the past couple of weeks I've been seeing blood in my cough - on and off- however this only happens in the morning as soon as I wake up. The phlegm itself is clear (not yellow or green or brown) mixed with blood - a lot in the first cough, then less in the second, and maybe just a little in the third, then no more. It was happening before but then it stopped, but I saw it again this morning. What could be causing this?

Re: Hi

monae,
It could be many things, but sounds like maybe a possible lung infection of some sort. My suggestion would be you see your doc and get a chest x-ray to make sure nothing is going wrong with your lungs. Have you been sick any time lately? Or been exposed to anyone who had a cough?
Reguardless, what ever is going on it should be evaulated by a Doctor, coughing up any amount of blood is NOT normal.
Good luck to you, and let us know how you make out.
Take care and God bless,
Annette
