smoke from fireworks making my lungs burn? - Lung & Respiratory Disorders / COPD Message Board

So me and a few friends go down to a reservation and light off tons of fireworks. We are there for a couple hours and I noticed after I smoked a cigarette (I don't smoke regularly), my lungs were feeling very tight and it was very hard to breathe. There were many people lighting off fireworks around the area which made the air turn into clouds of smoke coming from the fireworks. I hear its bad that you inhale the smoke coming from fireworks (powder?) and I'm pretty sure I inhaled A LOT of it (us being there for a couple hours and running around causing me to breathe in more air)

Right now as I'm typing, my lungs are incredibly tight and I have to breathe very slowly. Are my lungs just hurting from the smoke and will it go away eventually? Or is it something serious? Thanks.

It can't be good obviously. If I were you and if you feel that uncomfortable I would go to the ER. You don't want to have any serious breathing problems. Good luck!

Well currently, my chest is no longer tight .. but my breathing is not how it normally was. I have to take longer and slower breaths it seems like but it is much better than it was when I made this topic. Do you think my breathing will go back to normal after a few days or can it really be serious? The friends I were with said their breathing is fine. IF I were to get some kind of problem on my lungs, would it be much worse? Or should I be worrying about it this much? I would check it up at a doctor but I don't want to bother my parents when they have a tight schedule since it was my fault for staying at the reservation so long.

It could be anxiety now. I would give it a little more time and if it is really noticable head to the doctor. Don't mess around with your health. Just be careful. Good luck!
