I've had a chronic cough problem for years and many doctors have been consulted to no avail. I've tried all kinds of medications and nothing seems to help except maybe Tussinnex. What would you suggest?

Sounds like you have bronchitis; maybe chronic bronchitis, since you've had it for so long. You should see a Pulmonary doctor: he will be able to get to the bottom of it...Debbie

The most common causes for chronic cough are:

post nasal drip
allergies
asthma
acid reflux

I have of the above with cough as my primary symptom for the asthma and reflux. It took me years of working with various doctors to find a regimine that works to get all under control at the same time.

I have had the same, seen Dr.s for 2 years.I was found to have tracheal stenosis a week ago. Get a Dr. to do a bronchoscope! I cannot believe it took me this long to get a Dr. to do this! I have been to ENT, GI and Pulmonologist. Thank Goodness I got a GOOD Pulmonologist in Augusta GA.

This is a very rare condition but I beleive treatable. I am going to an otolaryngologist and thoracic surgeon tomorrow.

i suffered also with chronic coughing and coughing fits.i kid you not but i didnt sleep more that 3 hours a night for 14 months.and ended up moving to the sofa so the kids wouldnt wake up.ii have so many xrays,meds and so on and nothing helped till one day the pain in my back got sooo bad that i was taken to hospital.only to discover i had plurasy.infection of the plura.i was put on a drip for 9 day and was taking klacid with other meds.1 yr later to the day,my lung collapsed .i just got outta hospital.
