how long does pleurisy last? can asthma make it worse?

I had pleurisy earlier this year. It lasted approximately 3 months. Even after a regiment of antibiotics. It was very painful the entire time. I have COPD. I am guessing anyone can get pleurisy. But, possibly people with lung problems are more apt to get it.
