I agree - go see a pulmonolgist. You need some tests! And stop smoking NOW. It catches up with you sooner or later, trust me. You could have pneumonia. Go.

Perhaps you have a simple case of pneumonia but you won't know until you get lungs assessed and or x-rayed. Not every smoker is going to have Cancer or COPD or Emphysema. But in any of the cases early detection is the key to recovery. So don't be afraid to go to the afraid if you don't go.

you say you are a smoker, unfortunatly, as if you have no choice in the matter, we all
had to quit, it is the hardest thing to do, but by realising this is the only life you will ever have and letting nicotine rule your life expectency you are shortining your ONLY life by years... don't admit defeat and quit cold turkey. Throw away all your ashtrays and matches and lighters...c'mon you can do it...

Re: gargling noise coming from chest or lungs

Hey whatuthink---I was diagnosed with COPD april/2008. Your symptoms sound IDENTICAL to mine! If you don't have COPD than three cheers for you. But if you do have COPD then your better off finding out NOW! COPD is a progressive disease that continues to get worse. The sooner you catch it the sooner you can learn how slow the progression of the disease. If you catch it early enough you can live out a normal lifespan. If you catch it too late your odds of living a long happy life are not very good. So get your butt to a doctor NOW---and stop smoking. Your lungs are telling you they are wounded--so stop abusing them!
