How much time it will take to plug that hole - Lung & Respiratory Disorders / COPD Message Board

A 13mm MG TUBE(montgomery T-Shape tube) was inserted in my trachea since March 1999. Now I have got that removed and the doctors told me that the front hole will close by itself after 15 days. But 20 Days have passed and still the front hole on my neck has not closed fully. How many days will it further take that it will close by itself. Now whenever I breath or talk, some air goes through that gap. Can any one help me here.

Cover it with a waterproof bandage that seals on all sides. That will keep the opening moist and keep air from passing through it. The air may be causing drying that is slowing down the healing. The bandage will also reduce the risk of infection.
