Two weeks ago I started to feel a sporadic but repeated stabbing pain that started approx. 2 inches off the sternum under a right rib. Didn't matter what I was doing. Inhaling, exhaling, standing, exercising, lying down. Few days later, same pain spread to the opposite side off the sternum. Then more pains under the entire rib cage.
At first, I dismissed it. Thought it was a weird muscle strain maybe. However, after 2 weeks of this odd pain, I have developed a strange pressure in my chest. Makes breathing difficult - especially inhaling. It feels as if my chest was wrapped in a metal vice. There is no fever, cough, asthma history, indigestion etc. I think it's time to go and see a doctor in case it is a bacterial infection.
You see, last year, I contracted a form of ecoli (luckily not the 1075 strain). The food poisoning resulted from having eaten a hamburger at Swiss Chalet. It had to be treated with Cypro for 1 month. The bacteria caused my stomach and abdomen to extend severely where breathing was difficult and limited to shallow quick breaths. I could not eat anything because that interfered with breathing.
Hence I am thinking could what we are experiencing be another form of food poisoning or bacterial infection? Did you notice upset stomach, runs, etc.? Did you by chance have prepared chicken from a grocery store? or eaten something that made you feel unwell before your symptoms started?
Please let me know.
