breathing problems & pain/pressure-feeling in the lung - Lung & Respiratory Disorders / COPD Message Board

i have been having breathing problems (dyspnoe ) for the last month. they appear like attacks and disappear quiet quick, but sometimes i also have pain and a feeling of pressure inside the lung, but a bit higher, right under the chest. what can this be ? i had my lund x-rayed but nothing showed, i had my heart checked and i had made a lung-function test. everything normal, but i still have problems. can this be psychic ? what do you think ? i mean cancer or something like that would have shown in the x-ray pictures.

It can be stress induced muscle spasms. They can be quite painful. Another possibility is pluressy, an inflammation around the lungs.

If you have access to a hot tub, I would suggest soaking in it two or three times a week. Asprin can help. Regular exercise is also beneficial. Most cancers will show up on Xray. There are also blood tests for cancer.

Go to another doctor and see if they find soemthing; even the best doctor can miss something.

It is possible that you might have early stages of a pneumo thorax. They wont see it on an xray unless it actually happens at that time. My situation is similar. Im also trying to get help. Its frustrating when the doctor says that theres nothing wrong and you know for a fact that it is. I had 2 lung surgeries in 1996 due to pneumo thorax...it started with the same symptoms and the doctors couldnt find anything wrong until I basically hurled over in pain and then "Hey, there's a problem here" they said. I got so mad because they didnt do any other tests other than xrays. I feel that the problem could have been avoided if the doctors werent so stuck on insurance policies and procedures. Anyway, I hope you start feeling better. Don't give up...demand tests to be run if you think theres a problem.
