We're been discussing "air hunger" and hyperventilation under other posts on this board, but I thought if I started a new post with this name, some more people might join in the discussion.

A lot of people feel "air hunger" and just feel like their breaths aren't deep and "satisfying." So they keep over-ride their natural breathing and it becomes a habit. Then you need to break the habit and learn to breathe normally again.

Has anyone been to a therapist for breathing re-training exercises? I'd like to find out more of the exercises.

I'm reading a book called "hyperventilation syndrome" and it is great. She gives a good exercise. But I'd like to find out more.

I don't think I actually hyperventilate, but this book is still very helpful. I breathe incorrectly, and have made a habit of over-riding my automatic breathing. So whether you hyperventilate or not, this book can be very helpful in making you breathe correctly.

I just wish she gave more of the breathing exercises. I'd like to find out more about this without actually going to a physical therapist. So if anyone has any more information, or knows where to find some more breathing exercises, I'd love to hear from you!

If the book "Hyperventilation Syndrome" by Dinah Bradley sounds like something you'd like to read, get the third revised edition. It has more information and the breathing exercise. It's a paperback that is quick and easy to read. I just got it yesterday and read over half of it in less than an hour. You can find it on Amazon.com and half.com for under $10. By the way, this isn't an advertisement for the book! Just something I found that helped me so I thought I'd share the info.
