A few months ago I was diagnosed with having pulmonary embolisms. i was wondering if anyone else has had them and how you were doing later down the line

As this is all I found on a search for info on pulmonary embolism I wonder if there is a different method to search for previouse chats on this subject.
I had my pulmonary embolism November 2002.
I just found this board and realise how helpful and reassuring it can be.
I have had Otitis Media or Otitis Externa or both this last week and feel a bit uncomfortable with the blocked up ear at the moment.
I gave up smoking at last 2 months ago.

Cauasation of Pulmonary Embolism likely due to the lost hip joint and degenarating and damged area of hip from a missed septic arthiritis of the hip early 1992.

Lots of questions to ask in different area's of problems when I am feeling a little better.

Hi Christine - I had these back in 1984, in both lungs. Mine were found to be caused by a blood disorder, a protein deficiency. I've been on Coumadin ever since and have had no problems whatsoever, either with clots or with the coumadin.

Can I ask what they attributed yours to, and how many you had?

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with multiple bilateral pulmonary embolisms also. I have been on warfarin for two months now but as I suffer chronic infections from an indwelling catheter, my INR is very unstable. My original diagnosis was 2 months ago and, in the last week, I have had a recurrence due to my INR being so unstable. Is anyone else having probs with INR

I don't understand why a catheter would make your INR unstable, or why it would affect your blood at all.

Do you know why you have the multiple clots, or what caused them in the first place? I remember back when I was first diagnosed with my blood disorder, and my doctor insisted that I take only Coumadin. From what I understand, Coumadin is suppose to be better able to keep your readings constant and stable as they should be. And I don't think it's the same thing that you're taking. Can I ask what kind of doctor is treating you? You should be going to a specialist as alot of doctors don't have a clue about any of this. They may be fine for routine checking once you're stable, but for the onset you need to be cared for by someone who knows what he's doing, as what we have can be potentially fatal if not properly managed.
