| Re: Why do I keep coughing?
I'm not a doctor, but I doubt you have COPD from inhaling smoke at a house party. Smoking is the primary cause of COPD, but it's caused my chronic smoking. Since you're a non-smoker, my guess is that your lungs got irritated from all the smoke and you're having an asthma issue. Coughing as you've described is very common in asthma, especially at night. This cannot be spread to your girlfriend.
You should go see a doctor if you're still coughing, as it's been a month now. If you're no longer coughing then I don't think you need to go to the doctor. If you come across this coughing issue again, I think it would be prudent to go to a doctor to make sure you don't have asthma. Coughing all the time sucks. If it's asthma, there are medications that are very effective in stopping the coughing once it starts and preventing it from starting in the first place.
