hello, my mom recently found out in her xray that she has tiny nodules in the upper part of her lungs. The doctor suggested to do a ct scan hwoever she did give an option to do it or not!
can anyone please provide some extra information on the dangers of these nodules, and if if they are tiny does that mean they are benign?
My mom hates going to the doc in genreal and shes very scared !!
To add, she did get her blood work done and that was completly normal, except for lack of vit b12. THat is not a problem since she is eating pills for that.
Am so sorry to hear about your Mom's CXR, but there are so many reasons that nodules (even tiny ones) can be found - old inflammatory problems all the way up to cancer. But more importantly is why she went to the doctor in the first place if she dislikes going so much? Was she having any symptoms at all with breathing, heart beating fast, fatigue, etc.? Do you know what else the doctor did besides blood work? Like an EKG, give a good listen to her heart and lungs, check for swelling in her ankles, a breathing test (spirometry)? How old is she? Did she have someone else with her during the appointment? Sometimes, we hear only what we want to hear.....
Sorry to not be much help, but nodules by themselves can mean nothing......it is all part of a picture. Something like this would make anyone scared, but she really must follow up with the doctor for now!
hey thanx for your reply
And she went to the doctor because she complained of chest pain and back pain. Nothing with heart beating.
The doctor did only the blood work and the xray, and the xray showed the tiny nodules. She just turned 40 but hasnt worked in any facotry or smoked EVER!
And yes she did go alone ! so maybe you are right about that we hear what we want to hear.
