Bronchitis Duration

It's been a while, but it seems my old friend Bronchitis has shown up on my doorstep after a 2 1/2 year absence.

Before I state my question, I HAVE consulted my MD, and was swabbed for FLU and it came up negative back on Monday, when I first showed symptoms.

My question, basically, is this: Should I still be running temperature, MOSTLY in afternoon (1 PM -on into the evening) this late in the game?

I started getting the tickle but no fever Monday night, but awoke with a 99.4 (My regular temp is 97.5) and a more pronounced cough Tuesday. I went to the docs, they asked me the regular questions, swabbed my nose for flu, came back negative, yadda yadda. Sent me home with a Z-Pack and even though I am under the impression bronchitis is frequently caused by a virus, I took it anyway, finishing it TODAY.

And yet, half an hour ago (it's 3 PM or so now), and after being around 102 during the last few days, it is still hovering around 100 now, and I am achy once again.

Is a fever addociated with bronchitis suppsoed to last THIS long??

Thanks for any feedback people have here.

Re: Bronchitis Duration

I have had the same problem. Finished with Z-Pack on Monday and here it is Friday, still coughing and not breathing exactly at 100%. I've been sick for almost two weeks and it's getting very tiresome. Usually bronchitis/cold/flu doesn't last this long for me, but I have heard that it's been a slow recovery process with this year's viral/bacterial season. If you are still having a fever, I would probably go back to the doctor -- which is not the answer you want. Trust me, I know.
