Right upper lobe pneumonia always from Aspiration?

Hello, I was just diagnosed with Right Upper lung Pneumonia after a fews days battle with the flu. I have never had this before and the Dr. has me concerned. He states that this is due to Aspiration. I do not recall doing this and I am not a drinker nor do I have GERD. Can right lobe infections be from anything else? I am a 35 year old male in great physical shape. I did get very run down the week prior to getting ill due to work and school. Thanks for any info.

Re: Right upper lobe pneumonia always from Aspiration?

you need to have a swallow study done by a speech therapist. She will observe you swallowing and see the aspiration. I had to because i kept getting pneumonjia and finally they did a swallow study. My aspiration is due to so many raadiation treatments to my neck 10 years ago when i had throat cancer. i am a survivor now but i am a silent aspirator and i know how you feel.
