Sharp Sternum Pain

I have a sharp pain right between my breast bones only when I bend over. It feels like someone is moving a muscle into a position that it should not go into. When I straighten, it feels like the "knotted muscle" is moving back into its proper position anad the pain subsides rather quickly.

I am about 30 pounds overweight and never have any "chest" pain in any other position.

Could this be some type of hernia?? What can I do to relieve this pain? I can't stop bending over....

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Re: Sharp Sternum Pain

Could be a hernia, but could be reflux, could be diaphragm spasming, could be comething as simple as gas.

You can initially start by trying Zantac twice a day to see if it helps (for the reflux).

How are you eating?

In truth, you should get yourself to a doctor and be checked out thoroughly. Don't put it off. If it is something simple, it should be able to be remedied fairly quickly.

Keep us posted.
