| Unsure what is going on
I was having stomach pains about a month and a half ago. After a week I went to the doctor whom was worried I had appendicitis and ordered a CT of the abdomen. The abdominal CT caught a small portion of my lungs that showed a black area. The general practitioner spoke with a pulmonary specialist and the two decided to error on the side of caution and do a lung CT (I was told that more than likely it was a small abnormality and I would probably not even have to come back into the office) . After the CT I received a call and was setup with an appointment to see the pulmonary specialist. According to the specialist I have a large bullous in the right middle lobe that is pushing on the healthy tissue in the upper and lower lobes. His primary concern was spontaneous pneumothorax and referred me to a surgeon (was told he may just want to monitor my condition and do another CT scan in 6 months or so). The surgeon informed me that while in did not need to be rushed into surgery that day I did need to have surgery and needed to move pretty quickly. Both doctors agree that the CT presents like emphysema but the surgeon believe that it originates in the upper lobe. I can clearly see the area of concern on the CT but it takes up a large portion of the lung (to me it seems to be all lobes) and I’m just not sure what to do or where to go from here.
I’m currently looking for a doctor/surgeon for a second opinion
Has anyone here ever had a lung bullous? Had the surgery? Can tell me what to expect recovery wise? Recommend a good doctor in the Washington DC area? Or know a site that I can upload images of my CT to for review?
