Re: Can't stop coughing

Hi..do you have asthma?

What inhalers are you using at this time?

Could you possibly have a cold that's affecting your asthma?

It's possible that post nasal drip can exacerbate coughing.

Yes I have asthma. I use my inhalers when needed. I don't use nasal drips. I just got over a cold but no coughing!

Re: Can't stop coughing

For asthma, one should be using a preventer inhaler as well (usually a steroid)....I use Pulmicort turbuhaler, the 200mcg one. Two puffs twice a day and when I get a cold I double the dosage to 4 puffs twice a day.

The reason, to help deal with the inflammation and keep it down, then use the rescue inhaler when I need it.

You definitely need to be assessed again, and if you are having asthma induced coughing caused by the cold, the steroid inhaler will help.

As well, when I have a cold, I use Oxeze, which is a long-lasting brohchodilator...I go off it when I can go the 12 hours without feeling upper chest tightness.

Are you coughing up anything productive?

Re: Can't stop coughing

My suggestion is to get back to your doctor, get set up for proper testing and get on proper meds to deal with your asthma.
