MAC and coughing up blood

I was diagnosed with Mycobacterium Avium Complex in 2011. Already had diagnoses of Emphysema, Bronchiectasis. I was unable to tolerate ANY of the many antibiotics my ID doctor put me on. Have not had any chest x-rays, or CT scans for over a year now (no insurance). A few days ago I had a very strange and uncomfortable feeling in my mid-chest and then coughed up a tissue of bright red blood and clots. This happened again the next day, but none since. Have any of you with MAC ever had this happen to you? Thanks for any input.

Re: MAC and coughing up blood

I had MAC, and never coughed up blood. You need to see a Dr. asap, as coughing up blood is a good sign that something is very wrong is going on in your lungs. Good luck and God Bless. I know that MAC, all by itself is terrible, but added in with your other dx's, is even worse. Get help now, before it is too late. Peggy
