| Popping in lungs (NOT atelectasis)
Ever since I was a child, I've experienced an occasional issue with sharp pain(s) in one or both lungs that can be remedied by taking a very deep breath and 'popping' the offending air sac(s) open. While that seemingly does the trick, it feels like a knife is being twisted inside me, but until I inhale deeply, I have to keep my breaths shallow in order to keep the pain from occurring.
I had childhood asthma, which I outgrew as an early adult and rarely have any issues with breathing. The condition I've described has lessened considerably over the years, but it's not completely absent (I had an episode last night in fact).
When I was still seeing a pediatrician (I'm +40 now), he didn't seem too concerned about it and instructed me to do just as I described: deep breaths. From what I've read, it doesn't sound like atelectasis. Any other suggestions or anyone else have this condition?
Any relevant feedback would be helpful.
